The web site I have decided to make over is the Internet Movie Database, or as many know it IMDB. It is a very popular site that I check on a regular basis, but there is nothing special about the site. The visual aspects of the site do not appeal to screenagers, or anyone for that matter. There is a ton of great information on the site, and I would like to see it get a nice make-over.
The first thing that needs to be done is market research. In order to re-create IMDB to attract screenagers, I first need to understand what they like and what appeals to them. To get started I did a few quick Google searches to try and find some good links that have information on screenagers. Here are the links that I found:
Douglas Rushkoff
TechEncyclopedia
Muse Lyrics

Five Visual Reference Sites
Our first assignment is to find five different sites that "Screenagers" use on a regular basis. We will be using these sites as a visual reference for our own web page which will be created for screenagers. "Screenagers" is a new marketing term applied to 18 - 22 year olds who have grown up with cell phones, computers, iPods, any electrical device with a screen.
Site 1: Bravo TV

Site 2: MTV

Site 3: Cosmopolitan

Site 4: Perez Hilton
My friend Laura checks this site just about every day.

Site 5: The Office
This is my friend's favorite TV show and they check this site on a regular basis.

Extra Site: Comcast
While I don't believe this site is actually geared towards screenagers, I like the layout and the colors that they used.
